Today we’re going to look at the first two tenets of the Song Lifestyle.

The Tenets

The Song Lifestyle is a lifestyle in which one lives in continual romance of the Uncreated God. God is madly in love with His creation. He calls us His bride (Revelation 19).

There are five main tenets in the Song Lifestyle. These tenets are what Song People live by on a daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly basis. The tenets are not rules. They are  convictions held by Song People–convictions held deeply and rooted in Love.

The first two tenets are rooted in Psalm 27.

Tenet One:

Song People Live Entwined with the Lord.

Psalm 27:14 in the Psalms: Poetry on Fire (The Passion Translation)
reads, “Don’t give up, don’t be impatient; be entwined with the Lord.”

The person living the Song Lifestyle is found hidden in the secret place of God (Psalm 27:5-6). Song People live absolutely convinced that living hidden in the wonderous and delightful place of God is the only place live continually. No matter what problems crop up, Song People are persuaded that living delighted in Him and being sheltered by Him is the only hope, the only solution.

Song People know that God will never disappoint them (Psalm 27:14).

Tenet Two:

Song People Live Enamored by God.

The Passion Translation in Psalm 27:3-4 reads, “Here’s the one thing I want from God, the thing I seek above all else: I want the privilege of living with Him every moment in His house, finding the sweet loveliness of his face; Filled with awe, delighting in His glory and grace. I want to live my life so close to Him that He takes pleasure in my every prayer.”

Song People don’t lose their wonder. So much of the church has lost its wonder. God used to be a delightful mystery, but now with prepackaged programs, cookie cutter worship, and rigid time schedules, there’s no time for the magnificent wonder of God. Many in the Body today are bored simply because they’ve adopted a spirit of religiosity and shucked the true Spirit of Jesus.

Song People live enamored by God because God is a mystery to be solved forever!

Justin Abraham of Company of Burning Hearts  recently emailed me about an inquiry I’d sent him about an angelic encounter I had on my back patio and he said, “I live in the tension of mystery…there’s always something new and different to explore.” Song People live in the tension of mystery and enjoy themselves in Papa even when things don’t make sense.

A while ago I wanted to write a book called The Wild and the Weird. I still might write it. It’s about the wild and weird things God does in people’s lives. It celebrates the mystery of God.

God is mysterious and exciting. There is always something else to explore in Him. There’s an entire spiritual realm filled with His majesty and mysteries that we have the privilege of exploring!

God is Calling You to Deeper Depths

God is calling you to deeper depths in Him. He’s looking for you to be entwined with Him. Trouble is going to come, and He’s wondering if you will choose to entwine yourself in Him and be 100% convinced of His goodness and mercy and ability to carry you. God wants you to be a Song Person and delight yourself in Him when things get crazy. He wants you to rest in Him when things get out of control. He wants you to throw Him a party and celebrate His splendor with your friends when the world is telling you that you should be worried sick and beside yourself.

Jesus wants you to allow Him to ignite your wonder for Him. There are realms and depths of God that are mystical and what the world would call magical, and God wants to show those places to you. Christianity is not a dry bones dusty religion. Christianity first coined the word mystic! There are places in the spirit God wants to show off to you if you’ll just let Him guide you. Take His hand and run off with Him to His cloud-filled chamber (Song Of Songs 1:4 Passion).

Today I’ll leave you with the spontaneous song called “Wonder” from Bethel’s “You Make Me Brave.”
